PRESENTATION HIGHLIGHTS
- Presentations shall be made in English.
- Time limit per presentation is 20 minutes.
- PC, projector and internet connection are available at the meeting halls.
You may choose to attend the Symposium in the following presentation formats:
Symposium language is English.
Research (20 min): Papers presented report significant studies or integrative reviews in research, development, applications, and societal issues related to the Symposium topics.
Pre-symposium workshops (3-6 hours): Two days prior to the Symposium (September 11-12, 2006) is reserved for the workshops. Workshops are intended to enhance the skills by hands on activities and broaden the perspective of the attendees. They should be designed to introduce a thorough framework for learning a new development in the field or to provide advanced technical training.
Media Day: Those institutions and individuals that would like to share their products, services and experiences about educational television and video may join the media day activities. These activities include but are not limited to presentations and discussions.
Roundtable: A roundtable is a collection of brief papers on a predetermined theme that has been coordinated and led by a moderator. These sessions will allow maximum interaction in informal, small-group discussions on a single topic. Roundtables share a ballroom with 2 other concurrently held roundtables. This roundtable intends to bring experts and other participants to discuss possible solutions for the major issues in management of lifelong, open and flexible learning programs. This year, we would like to focus on (1) reputation, (2) mobility, and (3) international collaboration issues. At the end of the roundtable, it is expected to have at least a brief list of problems that have to be taken into consideration immediately along with possible solution ideas concerning this year’s major issues. |

This roundtable mainly consists of discussions about (1) effective instructional strategies for lifelong, open and flexible learning, (2) designing these learning environments that allow integration of the effective strategies; and (3) quality insurance. In accordance with this topic, the role of design in lifelong open and flexible learning; how to shorten the design process; new roles and competencies for designers, instructors, learners; how to train staff and learners, and how to provide support services, and the required actions to insuring the quality are also in the scope of this roundtable. |
